The system of regular registration is implemented for the Certificate, and registration is handled every three years. The Translators Association of China (TAC) is responsible for implementing regular registration. The Certificate is valid for three years. A bearer of the Certificate must participate in the continuation education or special training organized by the TAC prior to the expiration of the period of validity of the Certificate. Only upon the completion of required courses can he/she handle re-registration. This is designed to encourage translators and interpreters to pursue professional excellence, renew their knowledge, maintain high professional competence and raise their quality of work.

In 2005, the TAC issued the Interim Measures for the Administration of TAC Members and set individual membership qualifications with reference to CATTI certificates. Those examinees who obtain the Translation and Interpretation Proficiency Qualification Certificate for Level 3 Translator or Interpreter and above are qualified to become TAC members. Those examinees who obtain the Translation and Interpretation Proficiency Qualification Certificate for Level 1 Translator or Interpreter and above are qualified to become Advanced Members of TAC members.
